Cisco 'Type 7 Password' to Plain Text Converter Tool

A network engineer left the company and you were hired to tend to the Cisco routers and switches without proper documentation, except for a "copy-and-paste" of the 'start-up config'. Of course you can always login via console and do the Cisco password-recovery procedure. But that would be too cumbersome.

Sounds familiar huh?

The script below will convert type 7 Cisco "local" password . Type 7 passwords look like this:

      password 7 0703244340501D4444

They are usually the console and vty passwords.

To convert the type 7 password to its plain text(which you can type to telnet or SSH to gain you access without the need to do password recovery), copy 0703244340501D4444 and paste it in the space provided. Do note the converter below does not work for passwords that are not type 7 such as secrets and passwords followed by the Cisco keyword 'encrypted' such as those in VPN profiles.
