Techie Author. Technology Manager. Free-thinker.
I am Techienoobie. After more than a decade of experience in project management, internetwork architecture, information security, and technology management , there is still a lot to learn. Technology evolves so fast that there is something new to discover everyday, and old practices that need rediscovering.
I am humbled and thankful to have ever worked to with among the best band of hacks and brigands in the IT industry. We specialized in implementing non-standard, multi-platform, not-as-expensive solutions that (surprisingly) work and pass audits. Some examples of these are: (1) transparent URL filtering using Squid and a Cisco switch (WCCP); (2) PaBX solutions using Asterix; (3) port-redirection and SSH tunneling using the Linux CLI; and, (4) configuring automatic VLAN assignments over wired ethernet using Cisco and default Windows AD + Radius server.
Some years later today, I am now Technology and Project Manager requiring me to focus on developing my business acumen, strategic thinking and leadership and management skills more than my technical skills. However, I would like to find the time to pursue what I love -- IT engineering. I wouldn't say management stole the fun away because we still build processes, and infrastructures; but I do often envy my engineers as I recall the fun I and my team had in the lab.
Thus, I started this blog for two primary reasons: (1) to document the things I did (am still doing), which also serves as a refresher for me; and (2) to I can share my experience to others and perhaps help others shorten their learning curve.
I am a Project Management Professional (PMP, Project Management Institute, was Cisco Certified (expired CCNP), and a 4DX Certified Manager (FranklinCovey Institute).
